CENTRE FOR SERVICE AND EDUCATION

Origin:

SEVAMANDIR means “Temple of Service”. This Institution was founded by the freedom fighter and Philanthropist, Late. Sri. A.M. LINGANNA garu who hailed from a poor family in Karnataka in the year 1942, influenced by Mahatma Gandhiji. Sri Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari, the then Governor General declared open the institution traditionally in the form of Dhwajarohanam. In Hindupur Taluk Anantapuramu District of Andhra Pradesh.

Objectives:

The objectives of this organization are

A) To uplift the downtrodden and poor people in areas by providing Food and Shelter.

B) To provide formal Education and Vocational training.

C) To work for the welfare of the Society

Motto:

“Service and Sacrifice”. In order to fulfill the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Sri A.M. Linganna garu propagated this till his last breath.

Activities:

The following activities are taken up to fulfill the above objectivities. They are:-

A) Providing Drinking water facilities in more than 100 villages

B) “Silk worm Rearing, Mulberry crop and Grainage”.

C) Silk Rearing Centres for SC’s and ST’s

D) Tailoring Centre for Rural Woman

E) Universalisation of Education for Girls in Rural areas.

F) Community based convergement Services

G) Adult Education Project and Non Formal Education centres

H) Taking up “Gramajyothi and Chaduvu” programme

I) Maintained residential school up to X class, Junior College, College of Education, D.Ed College

J) Maintained Watershed Projects and Check Dams in rural areas

K) Maintained Dairy, Nursery and Gobar Gas plants

L) Having the facility of Post office, Syndicate Bank and Ayurvedic Hospital.

In addition to the above Sevamandir was a Shelter to many freedom fighters during freedom movement.

Sevamandir looks like Shanthinikethan in its peaceful atmosphere and working for all the goals set by the founder Late. Sri. A.M. Linganna garu with humble and noble ideology.
